Biography

Kevin Hulsey was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1955, where his exposure to both commercial and fine art contributed to his development as an artist, illustrator and photographer. In addition, Kevin has maintained a life-long interest in cars, motorcycles and all things mechanical.

Kevin's early artwork was heavily influenced by the Pop and Photo-Realist fine art movement of the 1960s. Artists Don Eddy and Richard Estes exerted the greatest influence with their sense of light, shadow, reflection and realism. By the late '70s Kevin was drawn to the commercial art world through his admiration for the work of David Kimble, Richard Leech, Tony Matthews, and Japanese technical illustrators Makoto Ouchi and Yoshihiro Inomoto.

Specializing in automotive and industrial cutaway illustration for over 31 years, Kevin has earned a reputation as one of the world's premiere technical illustrators. Since 1980, Kevin's talent has been recognized by the advertising industry; he has received numerous awards from Belding, Best in the West, Communication Arts Magazine, and the ADLA.
