Afghanistan | Jegdalek Sapphire & Ruby Mines

Afghan rubies and sapphire come from the Jegdalek-Gandamak mines approximately 100 kilometers south-east of Kabul, and south-west of Jalalabad, in Kabul province. When a higher resolution satellite image is available, the Jegdalek mines should appear as a series of long trenches cut into the hillside.
