Botswana Diamond Mines: Damtshaa Diamond Mine
The Damtshaa ("water for a tortoise") open-pit kimberlite mine is the newest (opened October 2003) of Botswana's four mines, operated by Debswana which is a partnership between De Beers and the Botswana government. The Damtshaa is located 12 km east of the Orapa mine, and 220 km west of Francistown.
