The first satellite image shows the Seridó Fold Belt intersecting with the Patos Shear Zone at the town of Patos. The Serra das Queimadas mountain range follows the Seridó Fold Belt, running roughly north to south from Salgadinho (lower left) in the state of Paraíba, through the town of Equador (upper right), to Parelhas in Rio Grande do Norte (out of frame). Mina da Bathalha in located to the just to the north-east of the town of Salgadinho, on Serra da Frade.
