Myanmar, Mergui Archipelago | Sir J Malcolm 'Pearl Islands'

Myanmar's south seas cultured pearl industry is centered on the Sir J Malcolm islands (aka Pearl Islands) in the Mergui Archipelago. The Mergui Archipelago is an island chain in the Andaman sea, on Myanmar's southern tip.

Pearl cultivation on Sir J Malcolm island is conducted by the State-owned 'Myanmar Pearl Enterprise' or MPE, under the control of the 'Ministry of Mines.'
