Indonesia, Irian Jaya | West Papua's Raja Ampat Pearl Farms
Eastern Indonesia's West Papua Province (formerly Irian Jaya) is an remote, and unspoiled part of Indonesia, having clean ocean water which makes it a good candidate for pearl farming. Within the northern part of Irian Jaya, is the Raja Ampat archipelago (Four Kings), dotted with 100s of islands and inlets. Atlas Pacific Ltd. of Australia has developed pearl farming at the Raja Ampat inlet of Alyui Bay, next to Waigeo island.
