Thailand, Kanchanaburi | (bo Ploi tambon) Bo Phloi Sapphire

Thailand's Kanchanaburi Province alluvial sapphire pit-mines are located in the Bo Phloi District (bo Ploi tambon), about 120 km west of Bangkok. Kanchanaburi in known for its deep-blue sapphire, and has been one of the world's main sources for decades. The famous "bridge over the River Kwai" is located in Kanchanaburi Province, situated about 30 km west of Bo Phloi.
