AMA Supersport Finals for 2007
This page contains photos from the September 15-16, 2007 AMA Supersport Championship finals held at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California.
There were four AMA events on Sunday, with the 17 lap (60k) Superstock, 17 lap Supersport, 17 lap Formula Xtreme, and 28 lap (100k) Superbike race.
AMA Supersport Championship presented by Parts Unlimited
First place on Sunday's final race of the Supersport championship series was taken by Josh Herrin, Dublin, Georgia, riding a Yamaha YZF-R6 (No. 46) sponsored by Graves Motorsports.

At Sunday's Supersport race, Josh Hayes hobbled onto the starting grid with two broken feet, resulting from Saturday's high-side crash in the Formula Xtreme practice run.
Josh Herrin and Jamie Hacking collided at the corkscrew during lap six (photo below), damaging the front brake lever of Herrin's YZF-R6. Herrin quickly slowed and was seemingly out of contention for his first AMA Supersport race win.

After a valiant attempt, Josh Hayes crashed again at turn 5, red-flagging the race, and taking him out of the running. Upon restarting the race, Geoff May (M4 EMGO Suzuki - No. 99) and Chris Peris (Topline Printing Yamaha - No. 8) collided at the corkscrew, sending both riders tumbling (photo above).
