MV Agusta Brutale 910S Motorcycles

MV Agusta 750 Brutale

Building on its success with the 750 F4, a "naked-bike" version called the "Brutale" was introduced by MV Agusta in 2004, undoubtedly in response to the success of the Ducati Monster line, and the growing naked bike 'street-fighter' trend.

The Brutale 750S was sold with a Liquid cooled 16-valve 748cc 'Evolution' EV03 engine that produces 127bhp at 12,500rpm. The 750 did suffer from some teething problems, having glitchy on-off throttle response, and a steep power-curve with low bottom-end output.

In 2005, the Brutale was upgraded to a 910 engine, which addressed many of the engine performance issues without sacrificing weight or handling. The 910's 16 radial-valve 909cc powerplant produces 136 hp at 11,000 rpm, and 70.8 ft/lb Torque at 7,900 rpm (146 hp at 12,500rpm for the 'R' version).

Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a constant mesh close-ratio 6-speed 'cassette' gearbox.

Brutale 910S & 910R

The Brutale's exposed chrome-molybdenum tubular steel trellis frame uses the engine as a main stress member. The single-sided swingarm is attached to an aluminium alloy pivot plate, and uses a Sachs monoshock that is fully-adjustable for high-speed/low-speed damping and spring preload.

The 910 Brutale comes in a 910S or 910R version. The Brutale front-end consists of a 50mm Marzocchi upside-down fork assembly attached to the frame with a massive lower triple clamp. Front braking for the 910S uses twin Nissin 6-piston brake calipers, while the 910R uses a monoblock braking system with twin Brembo radial P4/34 calipers.

2008 Brutale 989R, & 1078RR

For 2008, the Brutale will come in two versions, a standard 989R, and fully tricked out 1078RR model which produces a claimed 154bhp @ 10.700rpm. The 1078RR utilizes a new slipper clutch to replace engine braking, and features Brembo Monoblock radial callipers.

Engine management for the Brutale is controlled by the ECU's programmable EPROM (erasable programmable read-only memory) chip, in conjunction with the Weber Marelli 1,6 M induction discharge electronic ignition, and multipoint electronic injection. Customized 'plug and play' performance chips are available from companies like Ferracci (see link below).
