RV Product Overview

The Platform Step is the perfect step to use at the bottom of the entry steps into your RV. The Platform Step allows for easy access into your RV. It features a self-cleaning, injection-molded polypropylene step that is collapsable as well as easy to store and safely supports up to 500 pounds.

The Platform Step has a non-skid surface that won't rust and a self-cleaning design that won't allow dirt and mud to track into your RV. Also the Platform Step has four steel rails that fully support the platform to prevent sagging plus all steel parts are powder coated for rust resistance. It comes fully assembled and is made in the USA.

The Problem

After you've leveled your RV and are set up for camping, how many times have you found that the distance from the bottom of the steps into your RV is greater than one foot? If you are like me, the answer is probably more often than not, especially if you have only one or two steps at your entryway. In this situation, the step to the ground from the bottom step of the RV is not only much greater than a normal step, but can be quite dangerous, especially if the RVer's are not too steady on their feet or are handicapped. It is also potentially hazardous in the dark.

The Solution

The Platform Step is just the answer to the above problems. It is one of these RV accessories that should be included with the purchase of any RV because most of the time after you have leveled the distance to the ground from the bottom of your step will be greater than a normal step. The Platform Step is 24 inches long by 16 inches wide by 8 inches high, creating a natural and comfortable transition from the RV to the ground without taking a giant leap when the distance is greater than a normal step riser height. Additionally the Platform Step collapses when not in use by folding the legs conveniently under the platform creating an easily storable item that stores flat to 2 inches high.

Installation and Operation

There are no tools required as the Platform Step is shipped complete and ready to use. I found that it was, however necessary to adjust the nuts that attach the legs to the platform, just so tight, so that the legs fold easily when not in use and it opens easily and is also stable when in use.

The one drawback that I quickly discovered was that it is necessary NOT to place the Platform Step under the bottom step if you have automatic levelers on your RV. You must move it several inches away from the bottom step of your RV. If you have an automatic leveling system on your RV and you have placed the Platform Step slightly under the bottom step and you forget to remove it before retracting your levelers prior to departure, the bottom step on your RV will hit the Platform Step when the jacks are retracted and you may damage your step mechanism on the coach or Motorhome.
