Girard Systems Lite Flare - Emergency Signaling Device

Girard Systems Lite Flares

Product Overview

Lite Flare from Girard Systems is a battery operated, highly visible, environmentally safe RV accessory that is a durable, long lasting light source for all emergency nighttime applications. They take the place of standard emergency incendiary flares.

The Problem

Commonly used emergency incendiary flares can potentially create numerous environmental hazards such as igniting spilled fuel or roadside brush, also the fumes emitted are toxic and the flame created while in use is hot and potentially dangerous to the user.

Additionally, flares only last for approximately 20 minutes, necessitating an adequate supply for extended emergencies and dry storage to keep them from deteriorating.

Girard Systems Lite Flares

The Solution

This new safety RV accessory from Girard Systems called the Lite Flare eliminates the fire and environmental hazards of incendiary flares. There are no fumes, no burns and no risk of igniting spilled fuel or roadside brush. They are highly visible. Drivers can see Lite Flare's super-brite red LED lights from more than a mile away making it ideal for all nighttime traffic activities. The Lite Flare lasts over 400 hours on two replaceable AA batteries. There is no longer any need to keep continually lighting flares every 20 minutes. Additionally Lite Flares are very compact. They are palm-sized and store easily. They are available from Girard Systems in a convenient three pack kit in a transparent plastic carrying case measuring 5 inches by 4-1/2 inches by 3 inches.

Each Lite Flare is an extremely durable self contained unit with the operating system enclosed inside a sturdy, high impact plastic case weighing approximately one half pound and measuring 4-1/4 inches by 3-3/4 inches by 1 inch resistant to water, snow, dust and rough pavement and able to withstand repeated multi-ton (4 ton load capacity) vehicular drive overs (below). The economical benefits provide for the Lite Flares paying for themselves in a matter of days by replacing 700 incendiary flares without a battery change. The Lite Flares are designed for nighttime use, but can also be used during foggy, stormy weather and heavy overcast daytime conditions if an emergency occurs that necessitates the use of flares.

Installation and Operation

Lite Flares come ready-to-go for immediate use. Included are 2 AA batteries, however it is recommended that you replace them every two years with replacement AA alkaline batteries. This can be accomplished by first turning the Lite Flare upside down and removing the 2 phillips screws. Next turn the unit over so that the label is now facing up and remove the cover. Following that, carefully slide open the black battery holder and replace the old batteries with 2 fresh AA alkaline ones, making sure that the polarity is correct by turning to the 'ON' position and testing. This is followed by closing the battery cover, replacing the top plastic Lite Flare cover, careful not to pinch the wires. Finally replace the screws.

To use at nighttime in an emergency, first exit your vehicle when it is safe. Find the 'ON / OFF' switch located on the bottom and turn unit(s) to the 'ON' position. Place 2 or 3 Lite Flare's on the ground behind your vehicle. Point the arrow on the units toward oncoming traffic and finally call for roadside assistance (if necessary).
