Mud Dauber RV Furnace Screens

Mud Dauber RV Furnace Screen

RV Product Overview

This unique RV accessory is one of those items that should come standard on any RV Furnace, Water Heater or Fan Unit......but it doesn't. It is a heavy stainless steel protective screen that fits over outside RV Furnace vents. The 3/16th inch mesh opening keeps mud daubers, wasps, mice, birds, etc. out of the exterior furnace / fan vent, without blocking the air flow required for normal operation.

The Problem

The external furnace, water heater or fan vent opening is an inviting hole for various creatures to enter and nest in. Mud daubers, wasps, mice and small birds are only a few of the various types of animals that will find this opening and make a home in the vent opening on the side of your RV, especially if you store your RV and don't use it for awhile. Should this be the case it will give these critters a chance to nest in this convenient hole, blocking the vent thus rendering your RV furnace, water heater or fan, at worst, unusable. But, if by some miracle your appliance vent is not completely blocked and does work, when it ignites it will burn and melt the animal remains on the walls of the vent pipe when it becomes hot creating a smelly mess inside that is very hard to clean.

The Solution

The Mud Dauber Screen is just the solution to the above problem. Fabricated out of heavy duty stainless steel, it fits perfectly over your RV furnace, water heater or fan vent pipe usually located on the side of your RV.

This protective screen will effectively prevent such creatures as mud dauber wasps, bees, hornets, mice and other small rodents as well as small birds, etc. out of your RV appliance vent pipe.

Mud Dauber RV Furnace Screen Installation

Installation and Operation

The Mud Dauber Screen is easy to install requiring no special tools. Using a common screw driver or phillips head (whichever type of screw head is required) remove the screws holding the furnace, water heater or fan access door. Open or remove the access door and place the Mud Dauber Screen in the framed opening of the intake exhaust opening. The screen bubble should protrude through the exhaust port opening. Close the access door and replace the screws. The Mud Dauber Screen is simply held in place when the access door is closed.

Maintenance should be performed semi-annually wherein the screen should be inspected for cleanliness. If debris is observed, remove and clean the screen. Also, the screen should be visually inspected during any pre-trip walk-around to ensure that nothing such as dirt, leaves, etc. is blocking the vent opening which will prevent normal operation of the appliance.
