Rescue Tape

RV Product Overview

Rescue Tape is a self-fusing silicone tape for all-purpose and emergency repairs. Rescue Tape withstands 700 psi of pressure, 8,000 volts, and resists 500 Degrees (F) of heat. Rescue Tape is the strongest, most durable, and fastest-fusing silicone tape on the market, and Rescue Tape is so versatile that it can also be formed into an emergency o-ring or even a fan belt.

Rescue Tape is fantastic for whipping the ends of rope, or neatening up lines and wire bundles in stowage. It will never come unraveled, but when removed it never leaves any sticky residue behind like traditional adhesive tapes! Rvers will be excited to keep this one in the toolbox for those unpredictable emergencies. Rescue Tape is quite possibly the strongest, most versatile repair product on the market.

The Problem

If you're on the road in your RV there are many mechanical emergencies that happen from time to time, such as hose leaks, wiring breaks, or exhaust pipe breaks. Other wind, weather and wear related problems can also occur. What is the RVer to do in these situations?

The Solution

Many times the above problems can be fixed or at least repaired adequately until a permanent solution can be rendered. Rescue Tape is one of these RV accessories that every RVer should carry in their tool kit for just these type of emergencies. Rescue Tape is a self-fusing silicone repair product with infinite uses. First used by the US Military and now seen at trade shows across America. I ran into it at the FMCA National Convention. This is the most versatile and easy to use emergency repair tape available. Just stretch, wrap and Get Rescued! Use it to repair video and audio cables, leaks on plumbing and hoses, use for electrical wiring or as shrink wrap, wrap tool handles, use it in place of shrink tubing and much, much more.

Rescue Tape is self bonding, it withstands 700 PSI of pressure, insulates 8,000 volts per layer and withstands 500 degrees of heat. It creates a permanent watertight and air-tight seal in seconds. Additionally, there is no messy clean-up and it never gets gummy or sticky like electrical or duct tape. they advertise a long shelf life, but I have heard that it should be checked at least once a year. Other uses include wrapping tool handles for a better non-slip grip, wrapping fitting and electrical connections and wrapping wiring harnesses. It can be used in emergency fan belt repairs as well as high pressure hose repairs.

Temporary Repair of Exhaust Flexpipe

When I take off in my RV, the last thing I want to think about is what will go wrong. I take pride in planning ahead and preventative maintenance. I carry an extensive tool kit and first aid kit and I assume the contents to be in good working order. if something can go wrong, it probably will at some point or another during your RV life. At a time of need, you want to be able to rely on your preparation and ingenuity. My recommendation is, donšt leave home with out Rescue Tape. It has many uses, including some that would be difficult to anticipate. It is strong, takes up very little room, has an indefinite shelf life, and it is versatile. This is one of these RV accessories that probably will come in handy just when you need it.

Installation and Operation

The process of repairing with Rescue Tape is as follows:

  • 1. Wrap Rescue Tape around the project by stretching and overlapping onto itself. Stretch at least double to ensure a good bond. For high pressure leaks stretch to the maximum amount. The tighter Rescue Tape is wrapped, the quicker and stronger the bond.

  • 2. Continue Wrapping Rescue Tape around the project by overlapping 50% onto itself so that 1/2 of the width is covered with the next wrap. The first and last wrap should completely overlap onto the previous wrap for a complete bond. Additional layers may be necessary, and the same process should be used over previous layers. most repairs can be made by wrapping 3 to 5 layers thick and wrapping 3 to 5 inches on either side of the repair. Rescue Tape works on either side.

  • 3. Repositioning Rescue Tape is only appropriate in the first few seconds after wrapping. Attempting to reuse or reposition Rescue Tape after fusing occurs is not recommended, as it will produce a less than ideal bond. While Rescue Tape is not reusable, additional Rescue Tape can be applied over the existing project at any time in the future to add additional strength.
