Given the rising cost of gasoline - especially diesel, 5th-wheels, and other towable trailers (Towable Recreational Vehicle, or TRV) are rapidly increasing in market share. RV manufacturers have responded to this shift in consumer demand by increasing the luxury appointments in many of their 5th-wheel models, as the emphasis shifts away from luxury diesel buses.
The fifth-wheel is constructed with a raised forward section that extends over the bed of the towing vehicle. The hitching mechanism is mounted to the truck bed, and the trailer swivels at this axis point. This design creates a bi-level floor plan that is similar to a class-c motorhome.
A fifth-wheel trailer is equipped and outfitted with the same amenities as the conventional travel-trailer. The fifth-wheel trailer can be unhitched at your destination so that you can use you tow vehicle for running local errands and sightseeing.
