SmarTire - Active Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

TPMS Tire Monitoring Background
According to NHTSA statistics, most tire failures or blowouts are caused by tires that are at least 20 percent under-inflated. Under-inflation by as little as 20 percent can also reduce your tire life by up to one-third. Most blowouts are caused by driving on under-inflated tires for extended periods of time, but tire pressure is only part of the problem. Tire under-inflation will cause excessive heat to built-up which can dramatically shorten both tire life.
Active Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems, or TPMS are designed to provide the driver with real-time data on tire pressure and tire temperature, thereby avoiding problems before they happen. Sensors mounted to the rim within the tire transmit information wirelessly to a receiver in the driver's cockpit.
SmarTire's TPMS
The 2nd Generation SmarTire monitoring System keeps track of your RV's tire pressure and tire temperature as you are driving to give you peace of mind. SmarTire is the easiest way to prevent dangerous tire under-inflation and helping to ensure safety, while extending your tire's lifespan. SmarTire's advanced "wireless monitoring technology" is designed especially for RVs. The SmarTire system monitors your tire's pressure AND temperature, thereby providing you with ample warning BEFORE suffering a catastrophic blowout. The SmarTire Monitoring System is constantly comparing the temperature of your tires to their pressure.
- Extend Tire Life
- Increase Fuel Economy
- Avoid Inconvenience
- Reduce Accident Ris
- Temperature Compensation

Installing Your SmarTire TPMS
Your tires must be removed from the rims prior to install the sensors. A good time to do this is when you are going to replace your tires, as there will be little additional labor in installing the sensors to the rim at this time. The high-pressure sensors are battery powered, mounting securely to the inside of the rims using stainless-steel straps. Tire data is transmitted wirelessly to the remote receiver mounted on your dash. SmarTire's easy-to-read display shows temperature and pressure data from each tire alerting you to any deviation from the correct tire pressure.
SmarTire's TPMS is not a substitute for manually checking your tire pressure. You should still preform periodic checks manually, in order to maintain correct tire pressure. Always use a good quality dial type or digital tire pressure gauge.
TPMS Set-Up
The high-pressure sensors transmit information wirelessly to the receiver. The easy-to-read dash display shows each tire's pressure, temperature and deviation from its correct pressure. All of the system's customizable warning levels and settings can be tailored to match any possible motorhome and towed vehicle (toad) configuration. The "In-Tire" sensors have a "minimum expected battery life" of 7 years when used under normal operating conditions. The SmarTire Monitoring System has three visual and/or audible alerts for the following situations:
- 1. Critical Low Pressure
- 2. High Temperature
- 3. Pressure Deviation
