Water and Moisture in the RV Tail Lights
Preventing Moisture buildup in Tail Lights
Although the tail lights, back-up lights and rear reflectors have rubber seals and gaskets surrounding them, they leak. The next time that it rains go around and check your rear lights. If the seal is good they might be dry, however if the seal is not applied perfectly you might find these lights filled with moisture and water. Of course if water gets high enough and into the bulb housing, it will probably short out the connection.
One remedy that I have found to address this problem is to drill a small hole in the bottom of each rear plastic plate that covers the rear lights. Use a 3/16ths inch drill bit and carefully drill a small hole which will let the water out and alleviate this problem.
It is also advisable to drill a couple of small holes in the bottom of each rear back-up light plastic lens to help vent out any moisture buildup.
