RV Slide-Outs | Corner Head Protection

Adding Head-Guards to Slide-Out Corners

One morning about a year ago, before I had a chance to get a cup of coffee I went outside to close the gray water valve in the utility bay. I really wasn't quite wide awake yet and after closing the valve I stood up quickly and cracked my head on the bottom corner of the bedroom slide-out. I 'saw stars' for a week, it hurt so much! Then I thought there must be something that I can put on those corners to, at least alert me so that it won't happen again.

I bought a dozen fluorescent yellow tennis balls and with a utility knife I cut about a 3 inch slice in each one. I then put one on each of the 10 corners that are on the bottom of my slide-outs and haven't hit my head since. Although I have had some 'close calls', I was always able to see the bright yellow fluorescent object before actually coming into contact with it. I store the tennis balls in the water/sewer utility storage bay and religiously attach them whenever we stop, even if it's just overnight.

It may seem silly at first, but once it happens to you.............you might consider it as a preventative measure so that it doesn't happen again!!"
