Gendaika Modern Free-Style Ikebana
Gendaika Freestyle IkebanaThe modern or contemporary Gendaika or "Free-Style ikebana" form uses bold geometric arrangements in an upright nageire style vase, a shallow moribana style vase, or a combination of both moribana and nageire forms. Flowers and twigs are arranged vertically or horizontally, and stress a relationship between line and mass. Flowers are held in place using a kenzan support, and can also be held in place using florist's wire, glass marbles, rocks or pebbles, and floral foam. Sogetsu School of Free-Style IkebanaThe Freestyle modern Ikebana movement was spearheaded by Teshigahara Sofu (1900-1979) who founded the Sogetsu school of ikebana. The Sogetsu school advances the notion of creative expression and experimentation. ![]() Free-Style arrangements - Sogetsu School of Ikebana
